Relaxing date ideas on Sundays during December…

Welcome inside! I’d offer to take your coat, but with the way the weather has warmed up, it looks like you left it in the car. And it’s Christmas next week!!! What has happened to the Northwest weather this week? It was in single digits last week, and now it feels like an early spring! Ah, God is having fun with the weathermen this week. πŸ˜‰

Yesterday was such a fun day with my hubby(as was last Sunday). I thought I’d share some fun date ideas with you to do around Spokane(if you don’t live in a big city, there may be one within driving distance, or similar ideas in your town). Last week we went out to eat after church, using a gift card from our wedding. I found it to be helpful to use most of the gift cards in the first months of marriage to start our household, but I kept a few until now. But it is nice having them to use up during your first holidays as a married couple. πŸ™‚

After a relaxing meal, we walked over to the Davenport hotel to look at the Christmas tree displays. They have Christmas trees decorated with different themes. Next to the tree are numerous gifts that go along with the theme. It’s a fundraiser for the Spokane Symphony, so you can purchase a raffle ticket for a dollar and place it in a box next to the tree display that’s your favorite. If you win, you get the tree plus all the gifts with it. It’s a fun date for only $2 (if you both purchase a ticket). Afterwards, we went downstairs and sat in the lobby, enjoying each other and the Christmas music being played on the baby grand piano.

After a while, we went to the Advent celebration we were invited too. Have you ever celebrated Advent? I did a few times growing up, when we attended church’s that help special Advent services Sunday night. It’s been years since then, and we found out that several families from our church got together to eat and celebrate Advent. It’s been wonderful to spend every Sunday night having fellowship with friends, and focusing on preparing our hearts for what Christmas is really about- the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are learning about it, and how this is a time for preparation for His birth, while there is a celebration during Lent that prepares your heart to lead up to the death and resurrection of our Savior. Celebrating this time with your hubby and family is a wonderful way to end the day.

Oh, where has the time gone? I’ll share next time about our date yesterday. πŸ˜‰ I hope you enjoy this last week before celebrating our Saviors birth!

Juggling our first Christmas being married, as well as getting ready for our baby, and everyday stuff

Welcome back! Come inside out of this crazy cold spell and have a cup of chai. A nice thing about 4 degree weather is how wonderful a warm drink tastes. πŸ™‚

I’ve been busy trying to juggle decorating for my husband and my first Christmas together, making Christmas crafts, baking Christmas goodies, as well as getting ready for our baby in a month (reading books/making things), and trying to sort through things that still need to be put away in the house from our wedding 8 months ago. Not to mention the usual cooking/cleaning/laundry. It finally dawned on me yesterday that I was trying to do too many things at once. I would work a while on something, then move on to another project, cleaning, etc. Nothing was getting completed. So I stopped, and decided to focus on finishing the small things before starting working on something else. I still had to plan ahead to put dinner on, and then work on a smaller project while it was cooking, but I’ve been able to finish a few smaller things. The Christmas tree skirt is almost complete, I responded to some letters, dropped things off at the library, and made chocolate covered peanut butter balls. Do any of you struggle with this? It’s time management in a much different way than I was used to in college, or living as a single. Any ideas for better time management?
